On October 17 at 7:00 PM in the walls of the Falcon Club Arena, our team will meet Avtodor Saratov in the second home match of the VTB United League 2022/23 season.
History and achievements
The basketball club was founded in 1960 under the name “Spartak” (later – “Avtodorozhnik”, and since 1996 – “Avtodor"). The Volga team has been able to achieve significant results in domestic and international basketball for many years. So, the team is a four-time silver medalist of the Russian Championship (1993/94, 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99), bronze medalist of the Russian Championship of the 1995/96 season and the 2012/13 Super League. Semi-finalist of the European Cup (1997/98), champion of the Super League (2013/14), Super League A (1996/97, 1997/98) and Super League B (2008/09).
Under the leadership of the permanent president of the club, Vladimir Rodionov, the players of the national teams began their journey in Saratov: brothers Evgeny and Zakhar Pashutin, brothers Viktor and Nikolai Khryapa, Sergey Monya. From the younger generation, Artem Zabelin, Artem Yakovenko, Semyon Antonov, Artem Klimenko and others demonstrate significant results.
Off-season transfers
At the end of last season, defenders Nikita Mikhailovsky and Alexander Petenev returned from the lease.
In the summer to the composition Avtodor was joined by defenders Evgeny Kolesnikov (the player moved from CSKA), Nikola Rebich (the previous club was Mitteldeutscher, Germany) and Ryan Boatright, who previously played in the 2019/20 season for the Saratov club (now the player has moved from Paris, France).
Three players – Andrey Ivanov, Andrey Fedorov and Stanislav Reish - moved from the youth squad to the base at once.
Legionnaires from Serbia – Nikola Rebic and Rada Zagorac, who were involved in the Serbian national team in 2022, joined Avtodor. As well as American forwards Christian Jones and Brandon Garrett.
Head Coach
A few days before the first official match of the new season, Avtodor announced the resignation of Serbian specialist Nebojsa Vidic and presented Milos Pavicevic (Montenegro) to the position of head coach. The coach started his career in Belgrade, where from 2006 to 2011 he worked with the reserve teams of Crvena Zvezda.
In 2011, Milos moved to Russia and coached the youth team of Avtodor for the 2011/12 season. After that, he joined the coaching staff of Samara and the Georgian club Vita. In the 2016/17 season, the Montenegrin specialist led to the bronze medals of the Spartak Primorye Super League, and the following season he won the tournament gold with the team. From 2018 to 2021 he coached the Izhevsk “Dome-Springs". Last season he worked with the junior team of UNICS.
Season 2022/23
In the first match of the VTB United League of the 2022/23 season, Avtodor managed to win a landslide victory over Astana (94:72). In the next game, the Volga lost only two points to Pari Nizhny Novgorod (69:71), and last Friday they played with the current champions. In a duel with Zenit St. Petersburg, the team lost with a score of 71:92.
